Secluded Dog-Friendly Holiday Cottage in Cornwall
Bay Cottage was formally the Head Gardeners Cottage on the Mt Edgcumbe Estate. The Cottage has been thoughtfully restored and is a historical old cottage protected by a unique castle wall with large walled gardens and plenty of charm.
Nestled on a private estate on the beautiful Rame Peninsula, this enchanting holiday cottage offers a perfect escape for those seeking tranquility and adventure with their four-legged friends. Surrounded by beautiful countryside and coastline, this secluded property provides a unique blend of comfort and natural beauty.
Adjacent to the cottages lies a splendid Victorian walled Kitchen Garden, designed in the 19th century, this garden is a living testament to Victorian horticultural elegance.
Location and Surroundings
The peninsula offers breathtaking views, surrounded by stunning Cornish coastline and countryside. The Mount Edgcumbe House and Country Park is on the doorstep of Bay Cottage and is dotted with ancient trees, vibrant wildflowers, beaches, meandering trails and formal gardens perfect for leisurely walks with your dog. There are also plenty of lovely cafes and a country pub within walking distance.
Accommodation
The cottage itself is a charming blend of period features and modern design. The cosy interiors feature exposed wooden floors, window seats, an open fireplace, and wood panelling. The living area includes:

Bedrooms and Bathroom
There are three spacious bedrooms – sleeps 6 people:

Master Bedroom: Includes a king-sized bed, elegant decor, and a window seat with views of the estate.

Second Bedroom: Features a king-sized bed, wood panelling and window seat.
- Twin Bedroom: With two single twin beds, perfect for children or additional guests.
A large modern family bathroom with a double sink, walk in rainfall shower and roll top bath tub completes the accommodation.
We stayed for a week with our dogs. The cottage is beautiful. There was everything there that you needed from throws for the furniture to tea coffe etc. The cottage was clean is a lovely quiet relaxing place. Garden fully enclosed. Stunning driving up to the castle wall to get in.
This is a beautiful cottage. Very comfortable and nicely decorated. The garden and historic surroundings are peaceful and atmospheric. There is lots to explore by foot and beautiful beaches and seaside towns a short drive away.
Bay Cottage is a fantastic holiday location. We had a great time exploring the local area. Lots to do nearby, walks, Edgcumbe Park & house, pub lunches and fishing. The children especially loved their stay! The Wren family
